Description

Most engines benefit greatly with the addition of a catch can. The Mountune Catch Can System removes the oil and sludge from the PCV gasses before it is routed to the engine to be burned.
Unlike other catch can kits on the market, the Mountune Catch Can System includes high quality features that are not typically found in aftermarket parts. Sintered Porous Polymer Filter technology, Clamshell Style Quick Release Clamp and a cleanable filter are just a few of the outstanding features included.

  • The Mountune Catch Can accepts 5/8" hose, available separately - See part number 38910-6
  • Can Size 4.75" Height x 3" Diameter
  • Capacity: 7.65 fluid ounces

Kit Includes:

  • Catch Can assembly with Polymer Filter
  • Mounting hardware
  • Vertical Mounting Bracket
  • Horizontal Mounting Bracket

Benefits of Mountune Oil Catch Can:

  • Prevents oil buildup in the intake and intercooler system walls, throttle body, intake manifold, etc
  • Effectively raises the octane and increased engine performance from cleaner inlet air
  • Identify engine problems sooner as excessive oil collection can be an indicator of a damaged engine
  • Closed loop system: promotes negative crankcase pressure optimizing engine performance
  • Cleanable filter

Mountune Oil Catch Can features:

Clamshell Style Quick Release Clamp
This style of flexible tube coupling has been used in aerospace and high-level motorsports for decades in critical fluid transfer applications. Popularized by the "Wiggins" and "Hydraflow" brands in industry, this style of tube coupling is regarded for its reliable sealing, ease of use, strength, and lightweight. The joint's allowance for angular, axial, and radial misalignment facilitates easy assembly and isolates components from vibration for increased durability.

Mountune USA has taken this concept and applied it to our all-new oil catch can system. The catch can halves join together with a double o-ring seal joint, coupled with a quick-release clamshell clamp. The sealing sleeve is integral to the top half of the can, making for fewer components and easier assembly. The entire catch can is able to be disassembled in a matter of seconds- with one hand, no tools required! A catch can that is so easy to disassemble for inspection and cleaning makes antiquated features like dipsticks and remote drain valves obsolete.

Sintered Porous Polymer Filter technology
Not satisfied with typical catch cans that rely on baffling, steel wool, or expansion to cool and condense oil vapors in crankcase gases, our engineers chose to exclusively use the Sintered Porous Polymer Filter technology by Rocket Oil Separation Systems ensuring effective capture of atomized oil droplets and other unwanted elements in crankcase gasses. The Rocket's polymer filter also creates a hydrophobic barrier to stop harmful and unwanted elements from returning to your engine.

About the Rocket Oil Separation Systems filter:
A high-performance system requires high-performance materials. Manufactured by Rocket Oil Separation System, the UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) porous polymer filter is the heart and soul of the Mountune Catch Can System. Due to the material properties, the filter is extremely effective at capturing atomized oil droplets and other unwanted elements in crankcase gases.

Once the filter is saturated, oil will travel down the filter with the help of gravity and start to pool at the bottom of the device, allowing the filter to remain effective well past its saturation point.

While this filter is cleanable, as with any filter, it should be replaced once it has reached the end of its service life to ensure the device operates at peak performance. Once oil has pooled approximately 2 inches at the bottom of the device, it is recommended the filter be replaced.

Due to the infinite combination of engine type, mileage and other variables, it is impossible to predict the service life for any specific application. Generally, the lifespan of a filter will meet or exceed typical oil change intervals.

Tangential Flow Promotes Centrifugal Separation:
In addition to the porous polymer filtration, the airflow path has been specially designed for a tangential entry to maximize the effects of centrifugal separation. The crankcase gases are accelerated around the inside diameter of the catch can at high velocity, promoting the separation of vapors from the air and allowing the condensate to flow down the walls of the can. This "pre-cleaning" of the vapor passes less contaminants through the filter media itself and prolongs service intervals.
