It also is a fraction of the weight of a RTT, and keeps the weight down low.
This is perfect for rocklanding or other adventures where wight could be a concern.
It has all of the comforts and quality of the RTT, but without the cost and weight.
The one compromise is that you will have to find suitably dry and level ground, but that is perfectly acceptable for the benefits. It will likely replace my RTT entirely.

After discussing a few issues with Mark about the new basecamp solo I purchased this summer, I decided to update my review. I realized that the small screen fraying on one of the doors was due to snagging it on something rather than due to tension forces. Mark offered good advice with a simple fix using thread and simple suturing to fix it. Regarding disappointment with all the teeth of the door zippers not mating perfectly through the entire length of the zipper, I was informed that this issue disappears as the zippers get run back and forth several times. He recommended using zipper wax as a lubricant to help facilitate zippering or break in, which also aids longevity. I was unaware of this hack and never considered lubricating zippers before. If you have any issues speak to Mark. He even told me that he has future plans to increase the width of the solo tent corner to corner in a future iteration to offset the decrease in width higher up due to wall incantation. This would allow an assortment of cot sizes to more effectively nestle close to the walls maximizing floor space, which was great to hear. After trying to sleep in tents whose walls flap in the wind loudly, I appreciate the rigidity, security and quietness of this tent very much. My desire for more visibility and/or ventilation with vastly more screen area still exists, but I envision using adjustable tent poles posted at the corner of the tent with a tarp overhang off the front of the tent and potentially drape mosquito netting down to protect from bugs and create the open connection to the outdoors for the views and light breeziness I crave, then I would have virtually everything I'd want. Overall, it's hard to beat the ease of set up, the sharp looking olive-green color combo and the stout wind deflecting construction. There's a sense of pride with this tent. The only reason I don't give this version 5 stars yet is primarily because I wish for a bit more width corner to corner and more window vents and/or size for views and ventilation. Mark recognizes that placement of large or taller cots corner to corner can be an issue with this version due to continual wall incantation as go higher, so future design improvements may be made. If you plan to sleep on the floor with mats, use a shorter or low cot or don't care if swing a larger cot outward a bit toward the center some you should be perfectly happy with the current version. Mark said that fear of getting sleeping bags wet from condensation against the walls shouldn't be an issue due to the insulated walls. I would add if use a diesel heater and/or AC even more so. With only four walls to pop out and being lighter to throw around than larger hub versions, this tent is great for those that plan to move around more frequently or want for short overnighters.

I recently took the Overlandish Basecamp Solo tent on a camping trip, and it exceeded my expectations. The setup was quick and easy, taking less than 10 minutes. Standing at 6’4”, I was able to move around comfortably inside.

The tent’s triple-layer insulation kept me warm even on chilly nights, and the durable construction held up well against the wind. I particularly appreciated the zippered floor for easy cleaning. Overall, the Basecamp Solo is a fantastic option for solo adventurers looking for a reliable and cozy tent. Highly recommend it!
